Dr. Zorayda Mejia
CEO & Founder
Zorayda's journey began in high school, where she took on the role of a peer counselor, helping youth steer clear of the challenges of gang life. This experience ignited her deep passion for empowering others and advocating for underserved communities, setting her on a path of meaningful impact.
Her commitment to service found a natural extension in her work with AmeriCorps, where she made significant contributions in Jackie Goldberg's Office, Council District 13. One of her key achievements was helping to create Yucca Community Park, a safe haven for Hollywood's youth.
Zorayda's dedication continued at Cheremoya Elementary School, where she served as a community liaison, fostering connections and organizing events that strengthened family bonds. Her work expanded further when she joined the Heart of Los Angeles (HOLA), where she brought people together from various backgrounds to make a lasting impact in the Rampart community.
She co-founded several impactful initiatives, including the Life En El Camino Food Bank, Family Day of Joy, and Homeless Day of Joy, as well as food distributions to affordable housing communities. Over nine years, these efforts touched the lives of more than 5,000 individuals annually, leaving a lasting legacy in Los Angeles.
Recognizing the power of education, Zorayda took on academic roles at Life Pacific University, where she serves on the academic committee and teaches organizational behavior in the Masters of Leadership Program. Her rich academic background includes a Bachelor's in Psychology in Human Development, a minor in Sociology Gerontology, and a doctorate in Psychology in Organizational Management.
As the founder of My New House, Zorayda works with the Board to set long-term goals and strategies, while also serving as an organizational psychologist, improving workplace dynamics and efficiency in small businesses. Her journey is a testament to the power of compassion, resilience, and a steadfast commitment to positive change.
Tania Priego
Finance Director
Tania is a highly skilled accounting and finance professional with over 20 years of experience. She excels in working with business managers to address variances, improve forecasts, and uncover opportunities for growth. With expertise in budgeting, forecasting, billing, consulting, and accounting—particularly in the television industry—Tania has contributed to top companies like 20th Century Fox, Walt Disney Television, City Search, Constellation New Energy, and currently serves as the Manager of Business Production at MediaMonks.
Throughout her career, Tania has been known for her strong work ethic and meticulous attention to detail. Her organized approach and reliability have earned her a reputation for delivering high-quality results promptly.
Beyond her professional achievements, Tania is deeply committed to giving back to the community. She founded the Low Income Tax Preparation Program (LITP) at My New House, where she helps low-income families during tax season. Her dedication to this cause reflects her genuine desire to make a positive impact on those in need.
Tania plays a crucial role in overseeing My New House's financials, creating yearly budgets, and ensuring funds are effectively allocated to community programs. Every quarter, she collaborates with executives and the board of directors to validate agreements, monitor project outcomes, and ensure resources are used efficiently in line with the organization’s mission.
Tania’s journey from her birthplace in El Salvador, through the challenges of growing up in Hollywood, to her involvement in the Los Angeles Police Explorer program, shaped her dedication to education and community service. After completing her education, she built a successful career while cherishing her personal life with her husband Victor, their two daughters, and three beloved dogs. Her story is one of resilience, transformation, and a deep commitment to helping others.
Maranthony Aparicio
Public Relations Director
His dedication to community service is evident in his more than 20 years of work with at-risk kids in Downtown Los Angeles. MarAnthony is a strong advocate for Koreatown, connecting people with essential resources and promoting accessible education for children and youth.
MarAnthony’s academic achievements reflect his drive for personal growth. He earned his high school diploma in just one year and went on to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a Minor in Economy from California State University Los Angeles.
Outside of his professional life, MarAnthony has a deep passion for movies, particularly the Oscars. He enjoys sharing his love for cinema on social media, celebrating the art form and connecting with others over shared interests.
His travels around the world not only enrich his own life but also serve as opportunities to advocate for My New House on a global scale. MarAnthony’s social media presence, where he shares encounters with celebrities and glimpses into his adventures, invites others to join him in celebrating life’s moments.

MarAnthony is a multifaceted professional who plays a vital role in shaping the public image of My New House. But MarAnthony’s talents extend far beyond a single role. As the CEO and Founder of Cleaning Solutions Services, he leads the company with expertise and strategic insight, driving it to new heights. In the music and events industry, he serves as a concert director at Live Nation, where his passion for creating unforgettable experiences shines through in every event he orchestrates.
MarAnthony’s contributions are not limited to the corporate world. As the Events/Worship Administrator at Immanuel Presbyterian Church, he creates meaningful and seamless experiences for attendees. Additionally, he serves as a substitute teacher in Los Angeles public schools, where he inspires the next generation and shows his commitment to education.
Marlen Mejia
Operations Director
Marlen is a compassionate and dedicated individual with a deep commitment to helping others. Over the years, she has been actively involved in various charitable activities, focusing on food and clothing distributions. Her tireless efforts have made a significant difference in the lives of many seniors and homeless individuals.
After graduating from Hollywood High School, Marlen pursued her passion for dental technology by earning an Associate of Science Degree at Los Angeles City College. This education provided her with the foundational knowledge and skills needed in the field. Her determination to excel led her to further her studies at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where she received certification in Advanced Prosthodontics, Maxillofacial, and Implantology Laboratory. This certification enhanced her ability to make a positive impact through dental care.
Marlen’s drive for knowledge and leadership prompted her to pursue a Master of Arts in Strategic Leadership at Life Pacific University. This experience not only refined her skills as a dental professional but also as a compassionate leader.
She is passionate about inspiring others to serve and believes that by combining her technical expertise with her empathy, she can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need.

Dr. Elizabeth Khachatourian's journey from a visual artist to a distinguished leader and advocate is truly inspiring. Raised in Maine with deep roots in the Penobscot Nation, she later moved to California as a teenager, where she honed her artistic skills at the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts.
Driven by a desire to make a positive impact on others, Dr. Khachatourian transitioned from the art world to leadership. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership from California Lutheran University, laying the foundation for her future achievements. Her dedication led her to attain a Doctorate in Organizational Management and Consulting from Phillips Graduate University.
As a Senior Manager of Talent and Performance Management at Blue Shield of California, Dr. Khachatourian excels in nurturing the growth and success of others. She knows the importance of support, guidance, and development in a professional journey and has helped elevate the performance of countless individuals within the organization.

She played a key role in establishing a board of advisors that recently merged with the board of directors, bringing extensive knowledge and expertise to the organization. Through the generous support of Blue Shield of California, she has also helped drive innovation and progress, positively impacting the lives of many in need.

Dr. Plunkett brings an impressive 23 years of experience in counseling and executive coaching, making a profound impact on countless individuals and families. His extensive knowledge and skills have made him a valuable asset to those he serves. Notably, Dr. Plunkett demonstrated his leadership by serving as the president of the board of My New House for four years, playing a crucial role in the organization’s growth and success.
Dr. Plunkett’s dedication to helping others goes beyond his work with My New House. He is an active board member of two other nonprofit organizations focused on youth development, where he contributes to shaping the future of young people and empowering them to reach their full potential.
One of his most significant roles is as the Director of ZOE International in the United States, a nonprofit organization dedicated to combating child trafficking. This mission is deeply personal to Dr. Plunkett, and he works tirelessly to end the suffering of children trapped in this horrific crime. His commitment to this cause reflects his deep compassion and unwavering dedication to social justice.
Dr. Jason Plunkett
Vice President
Dr. Plunkett's life motto is inspired by Mother Teresa, whom he considers his hero. He believes he is merely a "little pencil in the hand of a writing God," sending love letters to the world. This humble perspective underscores his belief in the power of love, compassion, and the impact one person can have on the world.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Dr. Plunkett is a devoted husband to his wife, Jackie, a loving father to their four children, and a proud grandfather. His family provides him with a strong support system and inspires his ongoing efforts to create a better world.
Dr. Plunkett’s academic journey includes a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology from Cal State University Northridge, a Master's Degree in Psychology specializing in Marriage and Family Therapy from Phillips Graduate University, and a Doctorate Degree (Psy.D.) in Organizational Management and Consulting, also from Phillips Graduate University. His educational background has solidified his expertise as an Organizational Psychologist.
In 2019, Dana Woods and her fiancé made the bold decision to leave their hometown of Chicago and start a new chapter in Northern California. With a wealth of experience from various administrative roles in the legal field and as a former Subway franchisee, Dana was excited about the new opportunities awaiting her on the West Coast.
Dana has always had a heart for helping others. Throughout her life, she has dedicated herself to mentoring and volunteering, firmly believing that supporting people in leading fulfilling and productive lives is not just a noble pursuit, but a personal responsibility.
One organization particularly close to Dana’s heart is the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society. As an active member, she finds great joy in volunteering for steam-powered train excursions, which not only offer a glimpse into history but also foster a sense of community. Her contributions to this cause reflect her remarkable ability to make a positive impact wherever she goes.

Currently, Dana serves as the Legal Operations Manager at Blue Shield of California, where she continues to make a difference. Embracing a new challenge, she is also pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration at the University of Arizona Global Campus, balancing her professional responsibilities with her academic goals.

Erica Marquez

As the first in her family to graduate from college, she earned her B.A. from California State University Fullerton and later an MBA from California State University Long Beach. These accomplishments highlight her commitment to personal growth and professional development.
In her professional career, Erica has excelled as a project manager at Southern California Edison. Her expertise in managing complex projects and her ability to handle intricate tasks make her a valuable asset to My New House.
Erica also leads an active lifestyle, finding joy in outdoor activities like snowboarding in the winter, and camping, bike riding, paddleboarding, and hiking during the summer. Her love for adventure and exploration underscores her commitment to creating meaningful experiences with her boys and husband.

Dr. Manal Shehadi

As a first-generation Arab-American, she has overcome numerous challenges to achieve success both personally and professionally. Born and raised in Southern California, Dr. Shehadi maintains a strong connection to her roots while embracing the vibrant opportunities of her American upbringing.
With a deep understanding of the human mind and a passion for helping others, Dr. Shehadi has become an expert in both business management and mental health. Her educational journey began at Chapman University, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, laying a strong foundation for her future endeavors. Seeking further specialization, she pursued a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology at Pepperdine University, equipping herself with the tools to make a meaningful impact on those she serves.
Driven by a desire to create change on a larger scale, Dr. Shehadi pursued a Doctorate in Psychology with a focus on Organizational Management and Consulting from Phillips Graduate University.

In her private practice and work within a high school setting, Dr. Shehadi is dedicated to empowering and educating others. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, she creates a trusting environment where clients can explore their emotions, relationships, and personal growth. Her diverse background allows her to address a wide range of challenges, helping clients on their journey to bettering their lives.
Outside of her professional life, Dr. Shehadi loves the outdoors and enjoys traveling, which fuels her personal growth and provides inspiration as she helps others. Residing in the East Bay with her husband, Yorkie, and baby girl, Dr. Shehadi continues to make a positive impact on her community and beyond. Nancy Marroquin

Nancy Marroquin is a committed ERSEA Specialist working for a nonprofit organization in South Los Angeles. In her role, she ensures that children from low-income families have access to quality early education by implementing the Eligibility, Recruitment, Selection, Enrollment, and Attendance (ERSEA) process.
Nancy’s path to this meaningful work began at the University of Santa Cruz, where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Latin American & Latino Studies, focusing on Education and Migration. Her academic journey gave her a deep understanding of the challenges faced by underserved communities and the opportunities for growth within them.
A defining moment in Nancy’s education was a six-month Study Abroad Program in Santiago, Chile. This experience provided her with valuable insights into different educational systems and fostered a strong sense of cultural appreciation and sensitivity.
Outside of her professional life, Nancy is deeply involved in her community. She volunteers with her congregation, where she shares her love for music as a lead vocalist and drummer on the worship team, bringing people together through shared spiritual experiences.
